It's in the little things...
Yesterday I finally got my
TTT:EE, so I obviously went to bed at 3am watching the movie again. Good God, the eyegasms! I'm surprised they had the strength to delete all that goodness from the theatrical version. That must have been painful, yo. There were some awesome moments in there. We got angsty Merry/Pippin, but we also got cuddly cute Merry/Pippin. ;) I also enjoyed the extra Éowyn scenes, I must admit. Especially the Théodred funeral and another one in Helm's Deep where she talks to Aragorn. Miranda Otto paints those simple scenes with such despair and heart it gets under your skin. However, I have three favorites: the extended scene with Sam, Frodo and Gollum on the Dead Marshes, the new one at the beginning with Sam and Frodo and the salt from The Shire, and definitely the Faramir/Boromir flashback. That one takes the cake. That one sequence fucked me up in a very bad way. I knew it was good, but not THAT good. Unsurprisingly, I cried at that.
A random observation: falling asleep to the movie commentary featuring Dom and Billy will produce erotic hobbit dreams. Not that that's a bad thing, but I digress. ;)
Oh, yes. I also got the last (I think) of my belated Xmas gifts. This one was from
Lee, who must be the man with the most exquisiste taste in gifts I know. He sent me four Xmas ornaments, four little silver colored boxes, each one containing metallic stars and a variety of random holiday motives, made of silver or metal, I couldn't tell. One had an angel, ther had metal cuouts of reindeers, other one cute signs like "Believe" or "I can explain, Santa!" and the other one had a little Snata Claus. My mother was smitten with those, let me tell you. "I can't believe he sent you four. One would have been enough!" But yes, quite the gorgeous gift.
