January 2, 2004

Happy New Year!

It's January 2, and 2004 already had its share of moments to forget. For example, on new year's eve, my parents decided to feel miserable and have a fight at exactly 11:50pm. That's right. What better way to welcome the new year than having your parents discussing in their room while you pop the champagne feeling annoyed by them and wishing you were somewhere/someone else? How lovely.

Anyway, that didn't stop me from my ethilic tradition, and after my gradmother decided to call it a day, I finished the first bottle and took the second one to my room with my TV for company. I got to see the ball dropping in Times Square and cheer with the people in NYC and some other places in the world. I especially liked what they did in Sydney and London. At the end, I settled for an old movie and fell asleep around 3 or 4am.

My parents were leaving for a small trip to the beach the next day with my stepbrother and his wife, and thankfully they did so. I really didn't want to hang out around them after the fiasco of the night before, and I felt (and still am) really hostile towards them, since they seem to have the WORST timing for fighting. They have a knack for fucking things up at the worst time possible (i.e. birthdays, family reunions and any special moment for anybody else but them). They seem to like having an audience. Whatever. I'm so fed up with them. Thank God I don't have to see them until Sunday.

But not everything has been bad! I did get a long-distance midnight kiss for good luck, I finally went to see Disney's Brother Bear and I ate pizza (yay!). An improvement after a boring January 1st, let me tell you. My grandmother it's quite a good companion on these lazy days, despite the fact she makes me play weird card games. In exchange for her lessons, I introduced her today to the goodness that is the Lord of The Rings movie trilogy. She liked!

Tomorrow I'm going out with the girlfriends to bid a fond farewell with lots of tequila to our friend Nohelia, who's heading to the US of A for an intensive English course, she says. I think she wants to go get some gringo booty, but don't tell her I said that. :P

All in all, I hope it's a good weekend, since it's the last before we officially get to work again on Jan. 5.

Work. Ugh.
