Most of the night I've been in a really bad place, reliving painful moments of my life. Remembering those awful childhood moments, the ever-present heartache for a bastard that never deserved it, that one time when I really, really wanted to die, and even how, after all these years, it seems that my most faithful companion has been my own loneliness. In short, Despair!Miggie, Angst!Miggie, Issues!Miggie and Miserable!Miggie all came out to play. Why going to the dark plce? I sterted to talk with a friend via sms about how unfair it is that us good girls at heart tend to end up with jerks. The conversation went so downhill from there that I had some sort of breakdown for a while there. It's always been so hard for me to get things off my chest, open up a bit and actually say what's on my mind and my heart that when I do, I always end up crumbling down. The moment is always greater than me, and my emotions win the war against my logical train of thought -- I'm so afraid of myself I rather keep myself buried down and dead than out there, unprotected but alive.

So things end up like a train wreck: always with me hating myself for hating myself so much, for denying myself to live out of my head, for believing I don't deserve to be loved. Really, really loved. Isn't that a sad way to live? What's really pathetic about it is that I manage to convince myself that I'm fine. Because if I believe it, everybody else will.

At one point, I decided to sit down in frot of the computer and take a breather to write an e-mail for a friend that got laid off today. I sat there and did my best to cheer her up, telling her how smart, intelligent, beautiful and precious she is, and I couldn't help but think why can't I see myself like that. I'm trying to get there, but I need to convince myself first.

But things are not that bad, after all -- all night long I had a friend miles away from my home, holding me tight, taking care of me, and encouraging me to be that other person I can be not to others, but to myself.

I can go to bed now with a light heart, knowing that at least one person out there believes in me -- and that's priceless.

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)

Right now, "Communion" by Viggo Mortensen (yes, that one). An excerpt:

finding our faces fit

if we can't call
each other anymore
in amnesia, invite
ourselves to last glances
under suspicipus clocks
when we've
had enough?"

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?

I was always big on reading dictionaries and weird encyclopedias when I was younger. I wish I had the time to read them now. :-/

Grammy Blabbing:

Was really glad Norah Jones won all the awards she won -- she deserved it. Coldplay got two, so Miggie is very happy for that, too. The piéce de resistance? The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack even got a Grammy. So a good (even if a long) night.

Now, the bitchin':

- Simon & Garfunkel sounded great. Even if they didn't look too friendly to each other, their performance was really something else.

- No Doubt. You have to give it to Gwen Stefani -- she knows hot to work the stage. And those thigh-high boots looked hot and then some.

- Norah Jones in a more low-profile performance, still showed why she was about to win five Grammys. And is she really Ravi Shankar's daughter? I'm so behind on gossip.

- Faith Hill: thanks for showing us your panties. No, really. And next time, warm up those vocal chords a little better before you go out on stage -- that was painful.

- Nap time! The Dixie Chicks are on stage, performing a beautiful Stevie Nicks classic, and yet they can't seem to express anything. Oh well.

- Coldplay. Rocked. So. Hard. Yay!

- The definition of overrated: Avril Lavigne. Zzzzzz.

- God knows I love that "Dilemma" song with Nelly + Kelly Rowland, but they made me cringe. At one moment it was too much going on on stage, and then nothing. And the final "remix" between the two Nelly songs? Lame.

- Bruuuuce: Well, I've never been into "Springstreet" (TM Dustin Hoffman), but he was good. ::shrug:: Although he sounded kinda strained for a moment there -- the man was poppin' those veins.

- Another performance I loved: *NSYNC. I know I'm biased because I'm a fan, but having heard another version of their Bee Gees medley before, I can tell you that last night's was special. ::thumbs up::

- Ashanti with the kids? Even my mother thought that was Michael-Jackson kinda scary, I'm sorry.

- I really, really liked Eminem's performance... it must have been the more hard rock feel to it. But what was up with the mic? It's Eminem. He's gonna curse, people. Get over it.

- WHAT was Aretha Franklin wearing? That wedding dress made Lara Flynn Boyle's ballerina gown look good. Yikes!

- Kid Rock + Sheryl Crow was average. But what really disturbs me is how Sheryl Crow is slowly becoming Mariah Carey. Puffy hair? Check. Stilettos? Check. Too-short mini skirt? Check. I also wish I hadn't heard her at the red carpet saying "Nothing says 'Peace' like diamonds" to Joan Rivers. ::gags::

- The Clash's Joe Strummer Tribute. We have Bruce, we have Dave Grolh (YUM!), we have the great Elvis Costello and Steve Van Zandt performing "London Calling." It was very, very awesome, thanks, although I could have done without Steve Van Zandt's mic spitting. Something else: I can't help but think they could have done something a bit more stellar with more people there. I mean, it was Joe Strummer. They did good, but they could have done better.

- Miscelaneous:

- Is that armpit hair?

- Best couple.

- I'm touched.
They even resembled normal people last night!

Oh, and is John Mayer really 16 like he said on he speech? Because if he is, I'll be feeling like a dirty old lady all day. ;)

Miggie is happy today.

My godson, the most gorgeous baby to grace the planet, was born yesterday. I am so desperate to go and see him, it's physically painful. But I can't go there at least in two weeks, so I must find patience somewhere. :'(

Other than that, I finally got around to see Oscar-nominee "El Crimen del Padre Amaro" yesterday. Great, great movie, even if somewhat disturbing for the orthodox catholics and faint at heart. Mwahaha... God knows my grandmother would have burned the theater after seeing such a real portrait on clergy. But the really good thing is that I got to spend some quality time with my girlfriends. I've been missing them so much lately! We're always so busy and stressed with work and real life, that we barely find the time to get together and enjoy our company. And believe me, I've been needing them very much lately, after getting a reality check on who to really consider your friends. Other than that, it's fun to see how Sex & The City we are, even if we don't wear Manolo Blahniks. I wish I could tape our conversations -- you wouldn't believe the things that come out of our mouths there. :-P

On the fangirlish front, I'm very excited because my favorite Operación Triunfo (think American Idol, but 5000 times better, you gringos) contestant, Joan Tena, got a record deal and will have his first record out by the summer. I can't wait to hear that, because it will rock so fucking hard.

The cast of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has finally been revealed. Michael Gambon will play Dumbledore, Gary Oldman will be Sirius Black and this guy named David Thewlis, Professor Lupin. Although I will need some major convincing on the Sirius Black front (since I always pictured Oded Fehr for that one role), I know Oldman will be good. I am disappointed that they didn't mention who was cast as Cho Chang, though. ;)

On a totally unrelated note, what about Bono as a nominee for the Peace Nobel Prize? Wow. We get to see him today at the Grammys, right? I'm really looking forward to that. Although we all know the results are always disappointing, I'll get to see nsync performing their fantastic Bee Gees medley. Whee!

My cousin just called to tell me my nephew and godson will be born tomorrow! Aaah! Aaaah! Excitement!

The bad thing is that they live around 6 states away and I wanted to see him so bad... I'm his godmother, damnit.

Must plan travel soon to cuddle baby.

I just opened the mysterious London package -- it was from Lee, and I must say the man's a keeper. Mwah!

He sent me a little bit of England, and what's more English than tea and a mug from the London underground wrapped in Leeds FC holiday paper?

Later, though, I found the real treat inside the box: bubble wrap (big, noisy, annoying bubbles!) and wrinked pages from The Daily Star that promised "Noel's (Gallagger) Meg (Matthews) topless in page 3".

I had to thank the higher powers for not having page 3 near me, because after watching that disturbing gold cast of Meg's crooked hooters ::shudders::, I don't think I could have been able to see the real thing.

But yes, happy!

Friday Five | 02.21.03 | My own, my preciousss...

1. What is your most prized material possession?

It's a tie between my cd/book collection, my DVD and my computer. I'm a geek, it was obvious.

2. What item, that you currently own, have you had the longest?

I have a Raggedy Ann china doll my mom painted for me when she was pregnant, so I have that since before I was born.

3. Are you a packrat?

God, yes. This particular personality trait came out when I was in college. About two months ago I made a major sweep in my room and ended up throwing around 20 bags of paper trash. Copies, notebooks, you name it -- it was all stacked in my room. I think I even had things from High School.

I guess I realized I was becoming emotionally attached to papers, you know? And there are more important things to treasure than that. They're just... things. And the things you own end up owning you, so I threw them all away, baby.

Tyler Durden taught me that.

4. Do you prefer a spic-and-span clean house? Or is some clutter necessary to avoid the appearance of a museum?

I like my house clean, but that doesn't necessarily mean spic-and-span. Although I have to admit the fresh air of recently cleaned floors makes me quite happy, me being the active agent in the cleaning part of it does not.

5. Do the rooms in your house have a theme? Or is it a mixture of knick-knacks here and there?

Not really, just the personality of their inhabitants. My theme, for example, is "Oh My God, This Is A Dumpster!".

Google Buys Web Publishing Tool Blogger
.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Internet search company Google Inc. has agreed to acquire Pyra Labs, the handful of Web developers who helped jump-start the personal publishing phenomenon known as blogging, Pyra's founder said on Sunday.

::sigh::

I just hope this doesn't mean Blogger will become an evil spawn of Satan. I mean, I still trust Google to be good, but then Yahoo! was also good once.

I'll start MT research just in case. :-/

It seems I picked the most bizarre day to post again. But I just came back from lunch (with the Boss at Burger King, of all people and places) and am content munching on Hershey's Sundae Pie, so it feels right to step away from work for a while.

1.- Today the company gave us a bonus. A big, happy bonus that was going to pay my overused credit cards. At 10:30am, an e-mail from HHRR said that the bonus was a mistake from the bank, and the money was going to be withdrawn from our accounts. People want to kill people. I'm just overstressed and dreading a call from the bank telling me I have to pay yesterday. Oh, and they blocked ALL our accounts preventively. And I have what's in my pockets... you don't wanna know how much is that.

Other than that, work has been highly stressful these days, but it seems Boss has finaly caved and now adores me because I take the shit out of his fan. I hope to be retributed with more than a thank you when raise-time comes around.

2.- Today is Valentine's day, and once again, luck mocks me and tells me that yes, I'm not supposed to spend a day like this with an SO ever. My day started nicely, with gifts from Raquel and chocolates from a client, but since the bonus incodent up there things have gone downhill. Especially since I know I'll end up breaking down sooner or later. I really want to cheer myself up and do something, but most people have engagements today. And as long as I want to go see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", there's NO way I'm going to watch a wedding-related movie alone today. Especially when today I chose to wear a tee with a heart. Yuck.

3.- And yes, I can go to the movies again, thank God. It's been over two months since the last time I went there, yet I haven't found the time to go. The only thing good enough to see is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", because there's no Two Towers or Harry Potter in sight. Sigh.

4.- I've made my grandmother obsessed with Harry Potter. I gave her the books on New Year's because she kept on complaining that she didn't have anything to read anymore, and she has read the books about three times. All of them. In fact, she's actually hiding them so good in her room, that I asked her for the third one and she couldn't find it. Or so she says. ;)

5.- Tomorrow an ex-coworker is having a baby shower. I never thought I'd be excited, but then so many people around me are having babies, I might as well enjoy it.

6.- Talking about babies -- my cousin told me I'll be the grandmother of her baby. Which is a great honor, but also a little bit scary when you think of the worst case scenario and realize I don't even have the discipline to pay my credit cards.

7.- I started going to the gym again last week, and I haven't realized how old I am. I almost heard some creaking when I did my first powerbike class in four months. However, my fusion dance class still rocks. I might get tired until I get to the hang of things again, but God, I love to jump and headbang.

8.- Every once in a while I write on a local literary e-zine called Mureche. In the midst of an editorial discussion about next issue's theme, the editor in chief threw in a nice one: erotica. Although not everyone was jumping up and down with joy, people were excited about the challenge. Then, someone said the theme was immoral "because that's not what God expect from us" and we also could be "corrupting young reader's minds." Give me a break. Is still amazing to realize how retrograde people can be about sex. Is that hard to believe that, yes, people have sex, and yes, you can enjoy it? Because it feels fucking good, pun intended.

9.- My high-school sweetheart called me after 9 years of not knowing about each other to catch up. He's working with some fleet company and traveling around the world on a ship.

10.- Oh yeah, my friend Melissa and I decided we were writing a fantasy book. I'll keep you posted.

Friday Five | 02.14.03 | We be bloggin'

1. Explain why you started to journal/blog.

All the cool kids were doing it! ;)

2. Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?

Hm... some of them. I haven't told the rest because I'd have too much to explain, and I don't feel like justifying myself about something I love so much. ::shrug::

3. Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?

Other than blab around about my life? No.

4. What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?

I'm just looking forward to having my own domain (not that I'm complaining about my beloved hot, Andu) and design my ownb layouts all the time. Too bad I'm usually busy and very lazy.

5. Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.

Look at the upper right side and you'll find them. :)
